The Oromocto First Nation Fishing Enterprise currently owns various Commercial Communal licences including;
2-Alewives/Gaspereau, 1-Groundfish, 1-Herring, 1-Herring/Mackerel, 1-Shad, 1-Smelts, 1 Full Bay Scallops, 2-Mid-Bay Scallop 1-Sea Urchins and 4-Lobster. These licences are fished in various areas;
LFA 36, SFA 28A, B, C, D, 29-West A, B, C, D, E, SFA 28B, C, Washdemoak, Saint John Harbour.
The Commercial Fishery is managed by three persons personal; Fishery Manager Evelyn London, Executive Assistant Carol Bartlett and FMS Administrative Assistant Linda Primrose.
As new approaches to commercial fisheries come into view the commercial manager must continually seek improved ways of growing the fishery to the next level of development by seeking out other economic opportunities in the fishing industry.
The Commercial Fisheries Manager develops and implements the Commercial Fisheries Enterprise operations. Oversees the implementation of projects, coordinate activities, foster clear communication and synchronize activities among multiple project sites, attend advisory and committee meetings.
The Commercial Fisheries FMS/Administrative Assistant main responsibilities and duties are to provide accurate and timely entries in FMS for reports to Commercial Fisheries Manager and Quarterly reports for Chief and Council.
The Executive Assistant works closely with Fisheries Manager to make sure that all operations are maintained in an effective manner. This process includes all data being entered is current and up to date. The program is to support the involving Fisheries Managers continuing growth of our fisheries department.
